Beginner Obedience Classes have ALL beginner level DOGS and PUPPIES attending the same class.
AKC's S.T.A.R. Puppy Program
S.T.A.R. (stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility) Puppy gives you and your puppy goals, teaching the owner to be a responsible owner and teaching basic skills to your puppy.
This class teaches your puppy behaviors you want before they learn bad habits. Desired behaviors are taught and rewarded.
Teach your puppy manners. Emphasis on socializing, come, sit, down and house breaking. There's also a weekly discussion on a variety of topics. This is of particular interest to people who have never before owned a dog or puppy. Class is taught by Kath Cook, an AKC Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
A puppy must be under 1 year old to be a S.T.A.R. Puppy and attend a minimum of 6 weeks of classes.
